Some of the products we carry at Three Gators are large and heavy — including kayaks, fishing boats, and other watercraft. Items like these cannot be shipped through standard parcel carriers. Instead, they travel via freight (LTL), a specialized delivery method designed for oversized equipment. This page explains how freight shipping works and what you can expect when ordering a freight item from us.

What Is Freight Shipping?
Freight shipping uses a dedicated trucking carrier to transport large or heavy products that exceed the size and weight limits of standard shipping (UPS, FedEx, USPS). A freight driver will bring your item directly to your delivery address on a scheduled appointment.
Which Products Require Freight Shipping?
Freight shipping is used for the following types of products:
- Sit-on-top kayaks and sit-inside kayaks
- Fishing kayaks
- Touring and recreational kayaks
- Inflatable kayaks (boxed at large dimensions)
- Jon boats and fishing boats
- Any other large or heavy watercraft exceeding standard parcel limits
If an item requires freight delivery, this will be clearly noted on the product listing before you check out.
Is Freight Shipping Free?
Yes. Three Gators offers free shipping on all US orders, including freight shipments. There are no hidden fees, fuel surcharges, or extra charges for large or heavy items.
How Long Does Freight Delivery Take?
Freight orders typically arrive within 3–7 business days after your order has been processed. Orders are processed within 1 business day, Monday through Friday. Delivery times may vary depending on your location and the assigned freight carrier.
How Does Freight Delivery Work?
- Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number by email
- The freight carrier will call you to schedule a delivery appointment — please make sure your contact phone number is accurate at checkout
- You must be present at the delivery address to receive and sign for the shipment
- The driver will bring your item to your curb or driveway — inside delivery is not included
- Inspect the packaging carefully before signing for the delivery
What to Do When Your Freight Order Arrives
Before you sign anything, take a moment to inspect your shipment:
- Check the outer packaging for any visible damage, dents, or punctures
- If you see damage, note it clearly on the delivery receipt before signing
- Take photos of any damage, including the packaging and the item if visible

⚠️ Important: Signing for a delivery without noting visible damage may limit your ability to file a claim later. Always inspect your shipment before signing.
What If My Freight Order Arrives Damaged?
If your item arrives damaged, do not attempt to assemble or use it. Contact us right away:
- Email us at support@threegators.com with your order number and photos of the damage
- We will arrange a replacement or issue a full refund at no cost to you
- You will not be responsible for return shipping on damaged items
What If Nobody Is Home at Delivery?
Freight deliveries require someone to be present to receive and sign for the shipment. If you are unavailable during the scheduled window, please contact the freight carrier as soon as possible to reschedule. Missed delivery appointments may result in a redelivery fee charged by the carrier. If you need help coordinating delivery, reach out to us at support@threegators.com.
Can I Track My Freight Order?
Yes. Once your order has shipped, we will send you a tracking number by email. Please allow up to 48 hours after shipment for tracking updates to become active.
Address Errors
If you notice an error in your shipping address after placing an order, contact us immediately. If your order hasn’t shipped yet, we can update the address at no charge. Once a freight order has been dispatched, address changes are significantly more complex and may involve carrier redirect fees.
